July 1 - We started out on Thursday night after Michael was done with work. We arrived in Las Vegas at about 10:30 pm. We were able to tell Chris good night and have some time to catch up with Alison. We met Blue Whitney the newest dog in the Whitney household. (I can't remember his real name but Mark calls him Blue so that is what everyone calls him now.)
July 2 - It was an early awakening when Jonathan woke up as Chris left for work at 4:30am (It was his normal awake time of 5:30am Utah time). We fed and changed him and then put him back down to sleep. We had a late start as Alison and I chatted and Michael ran errands. We were all ready to leave when we had to stay to watch the end of one of the World Cup matches. We finally headed down to California at about 2pm. We made our way to Michael's sister, Amy's , new apartment in Corona CA. After arriving we caught up with them (tons to catch up on since they had moved 2 weeks prior) and played some games.
July 3 - Another semi lazy morning spent trying to watch the Argentina vs Germany World Cup match (go Germany). We finally packed up and headed out to a day at the beach. It was a bit overcast but a pleasant beach day all the same. You have already seen some of our fun festivities but it was just nice to relax and enjoy being outside. After the beach we had dinner and then went to the pool to clean off. Another round of games and then bed.
July 6 - I tried to keep Jonathan quiet so Michael could get plenty of sleep for driving. We got up late and headed out to visit the Whitney's before making the rest of the trip home. Alison was getting her hair cut but Chris updated us on the new news from our Las Vegas ward. The drive home was uneventful until we hit Provo. Jonathan started crying once we hit Provo and cried the rest of the way home. I think he had had enough of his carseat. We arrived home and I promised him I wouldn't put him in his carseat again for at least 24 hours. He had been a super trooper!
It really was a quick trip but completely worth it. It was fun to see everyone, get out of Utah and spend time in the California sun.
