Happy Pioneer Day

My outing with nieces and nephews to This is the Place Heritage Park... tons of fun!
You don't have to walk the plains to be a pioneer. Since we don't have to walk the plains anymore we headed down to Las Vegas with the Pachecos for the weekend. We had nothing planned except to spend time with the Whitneys and go swimming. We left on Thursday after Michael got off work. We formed a caravan and headed down. Arriving late we checked into our hotel and called it a night. The next morning we woke up and headed over to see the Whitneys. It was a hot day so after some catching up we prepared for swimming. Michael wasn't feeling too great and Jonathan was really tired. They stayed inside and tried taking a nap... Jonathan wasn't too cooperative. I spent several hours playing in the pool with everyone else. It was a great way to stay cool and we had a blast! That night we went over to the church to play some Volleyball. The next day woke up and headed to Mt Charleston for a short hike. (It had to be short because I only had my flip flops.) After the hike it was back to the Whitneys for more swimming. This time Michael and Jonathan were able to join us. Jonathan ran out of steam after about 35 min. At 45 min he started to have a nervous breakdown. He started to pull on his hat and suck his thumb. If he could see out he would cry hysterically, it was cute and sad all at the same time. (Of course we had to take a picture.) The next day we attended church at our Las Vegas ward. It was fun to see everyone and show off Jonathan since no one had seen him since he was 3 weeks old. After church we ate lunch with the Whitneys and then headed home. It was a great weekend and a nice break... even though it was extremely too hot down there.

Mark with his pine cone treasures, he was allowed to keep two.

"Will you please get me out of this thing and comfort me? I can't even stand to look at you people!"

Eli really wanted to get some Geocaching in on this trip... he's kind of obsessed.
