Christmas Time in a Flash

Here is a quick recap of the Christmas Time. We will try to get some pictures added in later:

20 December 2009, Sunday:
We went to church with Kim’s mom so we could see their Christmas program. Then we went to church by our house to see the folks there and show our faces again. They were glad to see us and we were able to just revisit again. Then we stayed at the house as we waited for Analee, Jose, and Little Eli to come home from the hospital. Unfortunately their car battery was dead, but they soon got a jump and were on their way. Little Eli is a cute little guy and we each got to hold him for a little while.

Taco dinner was at Kim’s mom’s house along with Scott, the twins, and Gwen. Sophie and Emma were being crazy so we had them help us by squeezing the limes. They watched as we made guacamole, Kim convinced them that they loved cabbage, and they seemed excited for dinner. Then tacos were made for them, right in front of them. But then they ate and spilled the toppings everywhere and they didn’t want to eat anymore.

21 December 2009, Monday:
I got the oil changed and went to my work office to show my face and looked at the design plans for I-15 in Utah County. Kim stayed home to rest. We went to see Chloe’s Kindergarten performance and then went back to visit with them. She and I built towers with blocks while Kate attacked me and Alec did his homework and played with friends. Kim and Nikki visited. Chloe wanted us to spend the night, but we told her that she might be able to spend the night with us at Grandma’s house. She was thrilled. Then we went to visit my old roommate and friends Blake and Lindsay with their two little boys from New York City, Richard, and Shelly with her little boy. It was good to be able to see them.

22 December 2009, Tuesday:
Kim and I went to the dentist. Things look generally pretty good. Kim and I went shopping since it is really the only day that we have to do such things. We just got a few things. A snow storm blew in, dumped snow, and made the roads slick. As we were going down the freeway, and I unwisely chose to go on I-215 on the east side, we saw a semi with a trailer on its side, cars were going very slow, and a pickup a few cars ahead of us started to spin around on the freeway. Luckily no one hit him since we were all going pretty slow.

23 December 2009, Wednesday:
We picked up Alec and Chloe to come spend the night with us at Grandma’s house. They were quite excited and so were we. Chloe is the biggest jibber jabber and does not stop talking, unless she is asleep... we loved every minute of it. Alec spent his time playing games on the computer, which I think he enjoyed since we let him and no one told him that he had to get off. That night Alec also helped set up Grandma's Christmas tree and Chloe helped make and decorate cookies for Grandma's Christmas tree.

24 December 2009, Thursday:
I went with Alec and Chloe to meet up with Amy, Kenneth, and Little Danny to go sledding at Sugar House Park. This was Danny’s first adventure in the snow and sledding ever. This was the first time this season for the Alec, Chloe, and me to go sledding. We had a good time and Alec had fun going off the jumps, even though the last one really hurt his bum. Kim stayed home to rest and stay warm. She prepared the cookie dough for this afternoon’s event of making cookies. They were so good.

Christmas Eve was at Kyler and Jenna’s house. The kids ran around and went crazy, we ate dinner, and Kyler told us stories of life as a police officer in Salt Lake City. He says that our house is in a good part of town.

25 December 2009, Friday:
This morning began with German pancakes and presents. Eric and Kyler with their families came over for a visit and some gifts. Then we followed Eric to Kim’s dad’s place for a visit. Back at Kim’s mom’s house dinner was being prepared and we had ham and funeral potatoes with salad and rolls. Marne and her family was there and helping to prepare dinner. This evening Kim and I visited Analee and Jose and Little Eli, and then we went over to visit with Amy and Kenneth and Little Danny.

26 December 2009, Saturday:
We began the packing process, but that was later in the day. The fun part was that I went with Kim’s brothers to watch “Avatar” while Kim and her mom went to watch “The Blind Side” and shop for shoes. After the movie I stopped by and visited with my Aunt Liz and Uncle Henry and their family. I picked up Kim and we went to dinner with her old roommate and friend Candice. Then we had to go see Little Eli one last time before we left town. Oh, and we did play some games with Jose and Analee.

27 December 2009, Sunday:
Sacrament Meeting and then packing the car. We prepared for the journey down to the much warmer land of Las Vegas. And then we made the trip. I drove the whole way as Kim slept for about two or three hours of the six-hour trip. We unloaded the car and unpacked the bags. It was a good trip. Busy, hectic, and good.
