The title may be somewhat deceiving because they did visit us last week, but few times did they actually stay in Las Vegas. They did spend every night here, but during the day they were out and about on all sorts of adventures.
They arrived on Saturday, 13 Feb 2010 after driving down the Central Valley and across the mountains and into Las Vegas. Sunday we had church and a Valentine's Day dinner. Monday they explored the Las Vegas Strip and visited the Body World at the Luxor, the Aquarium at Mandalay Bay, and rode the roller coaster at New York New York.
Tuesday they went to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. They drove, parked, paid to ride a bus, paid to go on the platform that hangs over the edge of the canyon wall, and I am sure they paid for something else... but they had a good time.
Wednesday they went to the ground breaking event for the project I am working on. The governor was there, U.S. representatives, and show girls - because what event in Las Vegas doesn't have show girls? Then they went to the temple. This night we played games at the table.
Thursday they went to Zion National Park and hiked around. They had a good time there also. Afterwards they wandered around St. George, UT a bit.
Friday they went to Valley of Fire because they ran out of time to go there the day before. They had fun wandering around trying to find the rock formation that looks like an elephant. They finally saw it - right by where they parked after looking for it all day long. While they were gone, I built a Nephite city for Kim:
Saturday we all did a few errands and then went to Red Rock again. We went on the small little hike that we went on with Amy & Kenneth and Alisha & Sai back in January, except there was no snow this time. On the trip through the park, though, we had the most incredible experience. We have been looking for this day since the first time we passed into Red Rock. We finally saw wild burros! We saw 8 of these magnificent beasts on a small hillside near the road, and then 3 more on the other side of the road. The 3 soon joined their buddies on the other side, creating a hazard for the oncoming cars which had to stop suddenly.
Can you find all 8 burros in this photo?All week long we also watched the Olympics at night - bobsled, skeleton, luge, skiing, snowboarding, halfpipe, and even ice skating. It's always fun to watch the Olympics.

It was fun climbing around on the rocks and the weather was great! We didn't have any bad weather until we got back to California.
Anyway, it was great visiting with Michael and Kim.
