24th of July Float Preview - July 17

We headed down to the float preview again this year.  We have gone a couple of years now and love getting to look at the floats close up before seeing them again at the big 24th of July parade.  They had so many good floats to chose from.  Our old stake had a really great float and then there was one with an explosion that Jonathan loved.  We had two votes and we went with Jonathan's vote for one and our loyalties for the other (not that we didn't like our loyalty vote this year but we probably would have voted for our old stake regardless, even if we hadn't liked it).

It seemed like the festivities have gotten more and more out of control over the last couple of years.  When we first went they had booths set up explaining how the floats were designed and made.  Then a couple of the booths had quick games or projects for the kids to do.  This year every float had a booth and an activity for the kids.  It was still fun but it seemed like the activities were there to try and get votes.  Sometimes the LDS culture is a bit crazy for me... no one can be outdone.  Oh well, it was fun and Jonathan loved all the interaction.

Jonathan's favorite stop was probably where they had the tattoos from KSL.  That's right, the bishop's family loves temporary tattoos.  It was Jonathan's favorite spot because they had a spray bottle to apply the tattoos with and Jonathan loves to spray his dad.  It was a great night and we can't wait to make it a family tradition.  In fact, we hope they pick our stake next year so we make sure we have the best booth with the most interaction ever!!!



I won't say who encouraged his behavior but Aaron sure was smiling!
