A Fun Weekend

Last weekend was the greatest! It all started when my nephews came to visit. We picked them up and then headed over to our ward party. The party was clearly geared for the older crowd but we made it through by hanging out in the corner with the other kids. Then it was some top secret holiday activities followed up by popcorn and a movie. We were a little bit worried about how my youngest nephew would handle a sleepover but he was great thanks to his older brothers.

The next day we woke up late and made sugar cookies. It was a mess but we loved every minute of it! We had to get ready for the family party so the boys also helped to make sure the apartment was dusted.

After the apartment was clean and ready for guests we headed out to meet up with the rest of the family. This year we decided to purchase gifts for a Sub-for-Santa family rather than for each other. We were all meeting up at Target. As we reached the Target doors a security guard rushed in and we could tell that something was going down. We waited outside because I didn't want anything to happen to my nephews. As things settled down we decided it was probably safe to go in. My nephew was nervous but I assured him the police were coming and it was safe. (Their dad is a police officer so I knew this would help.) As we walked through the doors we saw the shoplifter pinned to the ground and their dad was the one pinning him. I said, "See, the police are already here, say hi to your dad." I guess the security officers were having troubles and my brother happened to be there at the right time. We all got a good laugh at that. We returned the nephews safe and sound... and the youngest grumpy because we didn't give him a nap. We went shopping and then headed back to Grandma's (my mom's house) for some pizza before heading downtown for the lights.

The lights this year are great as usual. We wandered around while trying to keep track of all of the kids. We ended the visit at the nativity where the kids were excited to see the laser beam come down at the end. (Some of us would call it the Star of Bethlehem.) Then we headed up the hill for Hot Chocolate and cookies at our apartment. It was a really great weekend!
