This post has no pictures. There is not much to say. But perhaps reading this will help you understand a little bit of how we felt this weekend. Saturday morning we were supposed to go with Kim's Mom to Idaho for her uncle's birthday party. He is something like 92 years old...I think. Instead, Kim's Mom has been getting a bit sick, enough so that she called her brother, who is a doctor, and they discussed it and decided to go to the Instacare. We picked her up and while driving over discovered that she had forgotten her medications. But no worries, we called back to the house where Megan was and had her read off the meds with each dosage. Down through the list we went, and got to Vitamin D3...twice a week. "Don't you mean twice a day?" came the questioning Kim's Mom's response. Nope...twice a week. Thus began a new phone call back to Doctor Brother who promptly looked up the symptoms of a Vitamin D Overdose. She had them all. So instead of the Instacare, where they would not have been able to do the proper testing for Vitamin D Overdose, we went to the Emergency Room at the new hospital. When we finally saw the doctor she told him the story, including the part about talking to Doctor Brother, which seemed to just alienate Hospital Doctor. Well, Kim just loved to call her brothers and sisters to let them know about this situation, and made sure to laugh whenever she told them that we think that it was Vitamin D Overdose. To make this very long story a little bit shorter, after two saline solutions IV-ed in, a bit of morphine for back pain, normal test results returned, a used blue vomit bag in the trash after Doctor Hospital told us we could go, and some 7 hours after we went through those automatic doors in, we went through those same automatic doors out.
We returned back to Kim's Mom's house where Kyler and Family came to visit The Ailing One. We spent the night Saturday to help care for her. Sunday she was much better...at least able to keep food down. We stayed Sunday night also so Kim could take Kim's Mom to her doctor appointment.
So this post is long and boring--kind of like our weekend. Long, boring, and not too much to talk about. (Except that this will for sure be something to laugh about later. Come on, how many people do you know that overdose on Vitamin D?)
